After leaving a fashion Sales position to take care of his daughter in 2005, he began carrying a digital camera around on the streets of NYC, taking pictures of people who had dressed in some way that caught his eye, and then posting them to his blog, sometimes with comments about what he finds. The Society of Design is a non-profit organization dedicated to multidisciplinary design education and community service.

The organization strives to elevate and expand the discourse on design while providing inspiration to its members and the general public through an annual speakers series, trips, exhibits, and other initiatives. Additionally, a core element of the organization's commitment to the greater Central PA community is its requirement that all members agree to volunteer their design skills for the benefit of other non-profits within the region.

The Society of Design is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Non-profit Organizations (PANO).
